Manurewa Marae: Branded van raises new questions | Q+A 2024
A branded van, used by Te Pāti Māori candidate Takutai Moana Natasha Kemp last year, has raised fresh questions amid concerns over allegations relating to Manurewa Marae.
The late-model, 12-seater van was used by Kemp in her bid for the Tāmaki Makaurau seat last year. The vehicle was wrapped in the candidate's branding and featured prominently in Kemp's marketing campaign as a mobile billboard.
The now-MP appeared with the van in a Q+A story just before the election. Subsequent registration checks of the vehicle show that it is owned by the Manurewa Marae Trust Board. Kemp was the chief executive of the marae before the election.
That may be a problem for the marae as it is a registered cha...

    Firstly, empirical evidence is for scientific theories, not for evidence of human nature gone wrong. Secondly, the fact is- young people are impulsive, so the solution to do nothing that Jack is implying is nonsensical. Jack you are very woke and showing some ignorance, please wake up!

We need all the support from caring kiwis that we can

    ❤ everyone understands that a broken bone puts you out of action for a while, and it heals within a set amount of time ❤ but what we don't understand is how a broken spirit mends, how long does it take to mend, how do we mend it? ❤ Every soul is unique ❤

  • @aunicornofthemultiverse
    @aunicornofthemultiverse День назад

    Hi Jack, thank you for doing this interview ❤ to say that I enjoyed it, sounds kind of 🤮... but I was inspired to continue my journey upon the Healing Path. .What an arduous process for those two beautiful humane beings! They're truly Aroha Wairua ❤ Maybe the problem of adequate compensation for a Life despoiled by abuse and neglect should be laid at the feet of ACC. They pay up to $180,000 for Permanent Injury. I'm currently working on my second round of therapy and have been blessed with an excellent Therapist and ACC Case Manager! Yay! I've started the conversation about a Lump Sum Payment for permanent injury. To be fair on The System, there's a LOT to be taken into consideration for injury...the mental, emotional, physical problems a survivor, (if you're still walking and talking, you're a survivor) has as a result of parentals tearing off the flesh, sucking out the soul and gnawing on the bones of a child too young to understand that their boundaries have been laid waste, and they've been left for dead.. every interview with a health professional is stressful. Trying to communicate everything applicable in a non-confrontational way with a Stranger. I spent many years self medicating to try to salve wounds too ugly to contemplate. I understand now (after 3 years of cognitive behavioural therapy) that my parentals were absolutely messed up by being children during WW2. Then I researched back a bit further and discovered that their parents had been messed up by WW1 and the Spanish Flu. The other factor was poverty. Poverty of purse as well as spirit. Poverty has been a mindset in my whakapapa. My parents talked me out of attending University because it was "above my station in life". Lack of healthy food was also something that stunts development. If the parents don't have Aroha ~ Love, Support, Encouragement for their children, then how do their children pass it on to their children? This is a vicious cycle of the human species. In my Times of Meditation, I imagine my Aroha Wairua spreading out to embrace Our Mother Earth and all Her Children. I recommend Deep Breathing as an excellent way to calm the inner turmoil that's always present in One who's been abused. Because it's not healthy to hate forever. I also recommend Forest Bathing, truly connect with Nature to help heal the Soul. Lay your palm upon the trunk of the 1000 year old Tree, and feel the slow energy, you're part of this Life. Perspective. Something we don't speak enough about is the love and light that's stolen from the abused child. How does medical science quantify "loss of Love and Light"? This Matariki, I'll be remembering and mourning for Who I was, and celebrating Who I've become..my journey has been a long one. Maori isn't my birth culture, because the Romans took it away when they invaded Britain, but I grew up in Aotearoa New Zealand, in Turanganui-a-kiwa, Tairawhiti, and have found Maori culture as an Entrance back to honouring Mother Earth, Her Flora and Fauna, like my Ancestors did before we were subjugated by Rome. There's actually enough money in The System that there shouldn't be poverty. At all. There's no reason for war, either. Children are supposed to be individuals. We're all supposed to be individuals. Monoculture is anathema to Life. No masters, no slaves. Once the human species learns these things, then there'll be no more abuse and neglect. ❤ Love is the Law❤

    Sounds like ya typical national or even nz govt hypocrisy. She talks about their identity with their culture but then says they must pay for their consequences (which really should be highlighted to anyone and everyone) so really all that talk jack means alot contradicting irrelevance when relating that to crime of the youths. The Dept of Education is part to blame, a big part. The lack of appropriate punishment in the very poor justice system. And the equally useless CYF system with a colonial racist based govt they don't have a clue about human relations when they manage and run NZ like a statistcal bunch of numbers not ppl. I think she's another ladder toppling career climbing opportunist. Not to mention thez sinister ministers get shuffled around departmental portfolios before proving themselves. I think NZ is shit and it's govt. So flaws in the depts mean no changes in society and continuing problems hard and she doesn't seem like she will show no better promising outcomes. She sounds like a tralala yadayada. Prrrrrrr. Many maori parents are too young too dumb from the crap Education system they've bin raised in and throughout the generations. And the govt will always treat us like numbers on a production line. Boot camps are way overdue....Kp up the good work jack (TiakiTame)

    The majority of ethnicity & culture amongst young is only current if practise is clearly seen in capa haka performances as for Polynesian cultural performance, however for pacific Polynesians language is our key identity if spoken within the homes. The real importance for youth family in general is better parental practise open honest communication for the family unit not dictatorship from a father head of the household which is the core problem do as I say not what he practice this behaviour was a factor then, when I was growing up. Lack of a father figure and a angry mother because of a abusive husband, and it's current today same shit just another failed generation hence why gang prospect life style just another escape into a evil gang recruit mentality that takes an advantage of a already broken soul. Military induction is a healthy lifestyle we males need healthy discipline and structure the opposition need to back off and allow this to take place because previous government intervention has failed and continue if bubble rap emotional instability systems stays in place.

    As a person who has worked with this population alongside highly trained professionals (an area which as been highly under resourced for decades by both govt) I am dismayed that Ms Chhour has chosen to fund the least effective intervention which evidence clearly shows doesn’t work. Yet again this govt is ignoring decades of growth in knowledge base and choosing to tinker with an intervention from decades ago that had dismal outcomes. If Ms Chhour was that “caring” and informed there are far more effective interventions that could be transformative for youth and help break inter generational cycles. However they are expensive, take time, and require highly trained professionals which we have a shortage of. Like the ferries you are being sold worse than a “Toyota”. If Ms Chhour’s was talking with specialists (Psychiatrists/Psychologists/Paediatricians) she would be heavily exposed. These young people deserve need better.

    Boot camps dont work. Children taken away from family doesnt work. Removing children and the sending them away from abusive family already happens. Parents and children arent aloud any contact. Its been happening for along time the taking of children. Its complicated and of coarse the child must come first. However every Maori child I know that was taken was no better off for it. Because Maori will always go home if they can. Korero of Maori in state care and some foster care is terrible and under reported. The South African woman, how sad. She asked for held. From a well supported religious community. Nice whare and yet it happens . Saying Maori are going to a safe happy loving home is sad. Any parent would want that. Support and syrengthening families is key. There is nothing out there if you ask for help. I know many maori who have felt overwhelmed ask for help and end up in a full on investigation and shamed. Why not promote ...its okay to ask for help before its to late. All nz suffer in silence. We all need to just care again about everyone no matter young , old or in between.

I'm sure each individual will get the Care Empathy Understanding and wrap around service they need. Just because it is called a Boot Camp doesn't mean it is a bad place for these individuals to go to. It will teach them a lot of good positive things to carry with them into the real world however there may have to be some discipline for ones that just don't want to change. Have to try this nothing else has worked.

    And Jack Tame, where is the empirical evidence that putting Maori children back under the care of Maroi, results in better outcomes? There is none! But there's plenty of evidence in our prison populations and infant deaths that suggest otherwise.
